FREE PAPERS PRESENTATION (ONLY ORAL PRESENTATION) CALL FOR PAPERS

INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS

  1. Delegates are invited to present scientific work as an oral presentation.
  2. All presentors of free papers must be registered delegates of the congress. Abstracts will not be accepted without payment of registration fees.
  3. Abstracts will only be considered when submitted on the official Abstract Submission Form, as they will be reproduced in this or a reduced format in the proceedings. Additional Abstract Submission Forms can be obtained from the Secretariat.
  4. The abstract should not contain work that has been previously published or presented else where.
  5. Authors are advised to read the Guidelines before filling in the Abstract Submission Form.
  6. Authors should send one original and 2 clear copies of completed Abstract Submission Forms.
  7. Please send the completed Abstract Submission Form to the Secretariat before 31st January 2005. E-mail submission of abstracts are encouraged and can be sent to Dr Kalavathy (kala@imu.edu.my).
  8. Authors will be notified of the acceptance / rejection of their abstracts by the Scientific Committee.

PSM INVESTIGATOR AWARD

Three awards will be presented, one each in Neonatal Nursing / Midwifery, Obstetrics and Neonatology. Each prize will consist of a Certificate and RM 500. These will be presented during the Congress Banquet and may be published in the PSM Newsletter.

Eligibility: The presenting author must be a member of the PSM and, except for the Neonatal Nursing / Midwifery category, must be below 40 years of age at the time of presentation. Please indicate on the form whether you wish to be considered for this award.

Selection: Eligible abstracts will be shortlisted by the Scientific Committee. The panel of judges who are to be appointed by the Scientific Committee will consist of invited speakers and their decision will be final. No awards will be made if there are less than 3 papers in any category.


GUIDELINES TO AUTHORS

  1. The abstract must be typed into the box provided. Avoid smudging, alterations, erasures and strike-overs.
  2. The abstract should not consist of more than 250 words, use type size 10 (Arial or equivalent)
  3. Use a clear, single-spaced, black typeface from a laser printer or typewriter. (If not through email submission)
  4. Submissions must be in English.
  5. The title should be in CAPITAL LETTERS, followed by a blank row.
  6. State the names of authors and underline the name of the author presenting the paper.
  7. State the department / hospital / institution at which the work was carried out.
  8. Start with a statement of the main purpose of the study, preferably in one sentence.
  9. A statement of the methods used should follow.
  10. A summary of the results should be presented in an easily comprehensible manner to support the conclusions. It is not adequate to state the results will be discussed".
  11. Conclusions should be precisely stated.
  12. Do not include graphs, tables and references.
  13. Poorly presented abstracts reduce their chance of acceptance and accepted abstracts that are unsuitable for reproduction will only have their title printed in the abstract book.
  14. Projection will be via a standard LCD projector/OHP. If slide projector is required prior request must be made.
