A mouth-watering scientific programme and the thoughts of mouth-watering Kelantanese dishes will surely bring you, together with many of your colleagues, to Kelantan to attend the tenth Annual Congress of the Perinatal Society of Malaysia.

Because it is the tenth congress we have decided to make it a very special one with the theme of the congress being perinatal infection. The topics will vary from the nosocomial infections in NICU to the role of infection in prematurity, to shining the torch on torches and we will finish the congress with a brilliant talk on perinatal HIV.

We will have also for the first time a grand panel discussion on ethical dilemmas in the perinatal period and the debate will be a hot one between two teams of 2 experts each in the field.

There are some great shopping bargains waiting for you at the pasar of Kota Bharu, at Pengkalan Kubur or Rantau Panjang, but the committee advises you to stay one day extra for this because Doctors and Nurses alike will find it extremely hard to decide on skipping even only one session of the programme.

I am sure you will not want to miss our beach games and BBQ at the night of the first congress day and also for the banquet you can expect some pleasant surprises.

Conference Venue

The conference venue is the Renaissance Hotel in Kota Bharu, Kelantan. The pre-congress, all congress sessions, congress banquet and the trade exhibition will be held at this venue. The informal night with beach games and BBO will be held at the Perdana Resort at PCB. Transport between the hotels will be provided.


Trade Exhibition

In conjunction with the congress, a medical trade exhibition will be held from 28.02 until 02.03.03 at the congress venue. This exhibition will showcase products from the pharmaceutical industry as well as medical equipment and technology. Delegates and accompanying persons will be given free admission to the exhibition.


Call for Papers

Delegates are invited to submit abstracts for oral or poster presentations. The deadline for the submission is 31.12.02. Please refer to the inserted abstral!1: form for instructions on the preparation and formatting of the abstract as well as on the required method of submission. Abstracts will not be processed until the registration form and fee have been received and acknowledged.


Social Programme

A myriad of social and leisure activities are being planned for the delegates and their families. The organising committee will keep registered delegates informed.

Registration

All participants should complete and return the completed registration form accompanied by the registration fee to the Secretariat.

Registration will include:

• Congress bag and publications

• Admittance to the congress sessions and trade exhibitions

• Tea breaks and lunches

• Opening and closing ceremonies

• Congress banquet and informal night

Registration Fees:

Cancellations and Refund Policy

All cancellations must be made in' writing to the congress secretariat. Authors who cancel should also specify their abstract/code number. Cancellations postmarked after 15.01.03 will receive no refund, though registration fees are transferrable towards the registration of another delegate. Please note that all refunds will only be made after the Congress.


Confirmation of Registration

A confirmation letter will be forwarded to the delegates once the registration form and relevant fees have been processed. Please present the confirmation letter at the registration desk to receive your registration badge, congress bags and other welcome gifts.

Continuing Medical Education (CME) points will be accredited by the MMA (CME points). All registered delegates will be given a certificate of attendance.


Liability and Disclaimer

The organising committee will not be liable for personal accidents or injury or losses or damage to the private property of the registered delegates during the congress. Participants are advised to make their own arrangements with respect to personal insurance.

The organising committee shall make every attempt to ensure that all the scheduled, programme and events take place as planned. However, t the committee reserves the right to make changes to the programme should the need arise.

There will be a pre-congress on 27th February 2003 and the theme will be on Perinatal Cardiology.

Tentative programme of pre-congress:

All registered participants to congress are allowed to attend the pre-congress for free. It should however be indicated on the registration form whether or not you intend to attend the pre-congress.
